Turning old into new: the amphitheatre built in 1970 in the Polish city of Stargard, around 200 km north-east of Berlin, has been renovated and modernised in recent months. The auditoriums and stage were redesigned in the process. With a capacity of 4,000 visitors, the cultural centre now offers a high-quality infrastructure for a wide variety of events and occasions.
Our Polish entertainment partner Lookban played a key role in this conversion. In addition to the GIS electric chain hoists, which were installed under the enlarged roof above the stage to lift and hold the trusses for the audio, video and lighting technology, it also supplied and installed the trusses, stage fabrics and nets used, as well as the appropriate control system including control cabinet and cable material for the power and control connections.
Modern rigging system with 47 GIS motors
All chain hoists in the new rigging system, 47 in total, are designed in the D8+ version for holding loads above people. Various chain hoist types are used, from the smallest LPM250 for 250 kg to the LP1000 with a load capacity of 1000 kg. The LP1000 motors also have a load sensor for load measurement.
Lookban worked on this project for around two months. An effort that was definitely worth it. The completely renovated amphitheatre was officially opened on 21 June with the Stargard Festival and passed its first test with flying colours.
